Accelerating electrification was also significant trend in 2025. Production of electric vehicles increased by almost 90% year-on-year, with every fifth vehicle produced having either purely electric or plug-in hybrid drive, Jahn said. Electric car production increased by 165.9% to 20,167 BEVs and PHEVs in December (+88.7% to 285,176 in 2025), while internal combustion engine (ICE) car manufacturing decreased by 3.8% to 76,461 units (-10.3% to 1.16 million)
