AutoSAP: Car production in Czechia up by 7.7% y/y to 142,346 in March, by 8.3% to 396,880 in Q1 (Škoda+SEAT/Cupra +11.8%, +13.1% to 267,544; Hyundai -8.9%, -6.3% to 67,000; Toyota +12.6%, +6.7% to 62,336). Despite growing geopolitical uncertainty and weaker start of European markets in first two months, Czech automotive industry managed to maintain stable and strong performance. Historically highest production in first quarter and growth in electrified vehicle segment are positive signals not only for industry but also for entire domestic economy. However, we are closely monitoring impact of conflict in Iran on rising input prices, whether for oil/petroleum, gas, petrochemical products, or logistics. Although production remains stable, these factors are already beginning to affect costs and will thus work against recovery of major European markets that we witnessed in March, Jahn said. Electric car production increased by 19.8% to 28,159 BEVs and PHEVs in March (+20% to 79,192 in Q1), while internal combustion engine car (ICEV) manufacturing by 6.9% to 114,187 units (+5.4% to 317,688)
